  • Paul, John, Clappo & Terry met up at the NEC for the 2019 Bike show
  • We met Adrian and his new fiance Katrina in the hall
    • Motorcycles and accessories were perused
  • We had arranged to stay over after the show
    • The previous year we had nearly frozen to death in 2degC minus the wind-chill factor
    • Terry booked a very cheap and cheerful hotel near Birmingham airport
    • Near – as in – at the end of the runway, just across the road! Actually it was surprisingly quiet.
    • Friendly host, Indian restaurant inside, unsurprisingly the place smelt of curry.
    • Terry’s cousin Martin offered to collect us and take us out to dinner
    • Went to an all-you-can-eat ‘world-wide menu’ place near Solihull, Martin appreciates value.
    • On way home he gave us a guided tour of all the new housing estates that used to be the British motor/motorcycle industry factory sites
    • He then took us to a lovely old black and white pub in Meriden – supposedly the centre-point of the UK – even had a plaque on the floor
      • Amazingly – but this happens most trips – John had been there before.
    • Slept well.
    • Nice non-curry breakfast served
    • Paul went SW, Terry & John went east and parted at the A11/M11.
